Cross out three squares in a row (across, vertically, or diagonally) to score bingo. Enter your name into a draw for a chance to win one of five $50 Indigo Gift Cards!

To enter the draw, mail your bingo card to the Hamilton Literacy Council c/o HLC Read-a-thon, YWCA Building, 75 MacNab Street, 3rd Floor, Hamilton, ON L8P 3C1, or email it to info@hamiltonreads.ca. Please write your name and phone number on the line provided below the card so that we can contact you if you win a prize.

The draw date will be Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022.

Terms and Conditions for Hamilton Literacy Council 2021 Read-a-thon 

1. Your Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions are accepted by all participants (“Participants”) in the Hamilton Literacy Council (“HLC”) 2021 Read-a-thon. For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, “HLC” includes the Hamilton Literacy Council, The Hamilton and District Literacy Council, and all employees, volunteers, and affiliates of the Hamilton Literacy Council. All Participants in the Read-a-thon must be at least 16 years old or have parental/guardian permission to participate.

2.  Disclaimer and Liability Exclusion

All Participants are in agreement that the HLC does not accept any liability for their participation in the bingo game and Read-a-thon. The bingo board is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any representations, warranties, or conditions of any kind, whether express or implied. The HLC will not under any circumstances be liable to you or any other person for any loss or damage arising from, connected with, or relating to the use of the bingo board or participation in the Read-a-thon. The HLC further does not guarantee that you will receive any prize and does not guarantee that there are any substantial prizes whatsoever. Staff and Board Members of the HLC may participate in the bingo game but cannot be entered into the draw(s) for prizes and cannot win any prizes in this activity.

The HLC is committed to health and safety. Please consider your safety during participation in this event. For example, no inappropriate reading while driving, do not take photos while driving, and be careful with what personal photos you share online. Your participation in this event is entirely your responsibility and acknowledges that neither the HLC nor any of its affiliates or related persons may be held liable for any resulting damages from your participation.

3.  Personal Information Privacy

The HLC collects, uses, and discloses personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy. By accepting these Terms and Conditions, writing your name and telephone on the form, or submitting the form to the HLC, you consent to the HLC’s collection, use, and disclosure of your information in accordance with the Policy as it then reads without any further notice or any liability to you or any other person. The HLC plans to only use Read-a-thon information to (a) enter your name into a random draw for a prize and

(b) try to contact you in the event that you win a prize. Upon completion of the Read-a-thon and distribution of prizes, information collected during the course of the read-a-thon shall be destroyed.

4.  Ownership and Permitted Use of Read-a-thon Materials

All rights reserved. The game board document, including all of its content, is the property of the HLC and others, and is protected by Canadian and international copyright, trademark, and other laws. Your use of the game board does not transfer to you any ownership or other rights or its content. The game board is made available to you for your lawful, personal, non-commercial use only.

5.  Prohibited Activities

You may not use the HLC Read-a-thon materials for any activities that violate any law, statute, or regulation; post items online that are considered obscene or that infringe or violate copyright, trademark, right of publicity, privacy, or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction; post violent or otherwise inappropriate images or materials; or show personal information of third parties in violation of applicable law.

6.  Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and Conditions, your participation in the HLC Read-a-thon, and all related matters are governed solely by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada and applicable federal laws of Canada. Any dispute between the HLC and you or any other person arising from, connected with, or relating to the 2021 Read-a-thon, these Terms and Conditions, or any related matters must be resolved before the Court of the Province of Ontario sitting in the City of Hamilton, and you hereby irrevocably submit and attorn to the original and exclusive jurisdiction of these Courts in respect of any such dispute or matter.

7.  Other Matters

These Terms and Conditions, including any changes made to these Terms and Conditions from time to time, constitute the entire agreement between you and the HLC related to your participation in the 2021 read-a-thon, and supersedes all previous agreements, written, oral, or otherwise, between you and the HLC with respect to the same.

The HLC reserves the right to amend, change, or modify these Terms and Conditions at anytime. Participants may not change, supplement, or amend these Terms and Conditions in any manner.

If any sentence or provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that sentence or provision shall be deemed to be severed from the rest and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.

The provisions of these Terms and Conditions will ensure to the benefit of and be binding upon each of the HLC and its successors and assigns and related persons, and you and your heirs, executors, administrators, successors, permitted assigns, and personal representatives.
