The Hamilton Literacy Council is thrilled to announce it will mark its 50th year of service with a celebration at The Gasworks in Hamilton on June 16th, 2023.
The Hamilton Literacy Council incorporated as a registered non-profit in 1973 and started as a grassroots movement focused on “literacy as a human right”. To date, we have helped more than 11,000 Hamiltonians develop and improve their literacy skills.
The milestone event will feature a welcome announcement by Hamilton Literacy Council Board President, Morgan Stanek, followed by a retrospective on the council’s last 50 years by Executive Director, Helen McLeod.
The evening will include an award ceremony for the 2023 Tutor of the Year, as well as student recognition for Milestone Achievement, 2023 Commitment to Literacy and the 2023 Oustanding Achievement award. Attendees will also hear front-line stories from two of our students.
We will also be unveiling our brand new website as well as recognizing the generous donations from our funders and donors.
